Default g16 jerks when starting

Cart jerks when starting and then runs fine once it gets going. Would like to trouble shoot on possible causes and fixes.

Have you done anything to it lately? changed anything? Had it in the shop?

Or has nothing been done and this suddenly just started occurring.

I had to fix some wiring that got pulled down and rubbed to the wire causing a fuse to bust. This occurred a while after that though.

Typically jumpyness is caused by clutches and/or drive belt. You should look at the clutches and see if you hear noises or anything wobbles. Inspect the belt to see if has any damage.

The drive belt is not loose when sitting idle like it used to. Does that mean anything?

Sounds like your primary clutch is "stuck closed". Most likley from a weight getting past a flat spot on a roller.

If this is the case, its a dangerous scenerio for your engine (i learned the hard way). Dont drive it any more 'till its fixed. It could be a case of needing new rollers in the clutch, or it could be a case of the sliding sheave having a recess worn into it, causing the old roller to finish wearing out quickly. Need to remove the primary clutch & inspect.

Thanks for the info. Sounds more involved than a simple fix and will take it to get looked at.
