Default G9 Speed Issues

I have a 93 G9, just rebuilt the motor put the Ploughman performance kit on it ( exhaust and rear clutch) and after tuning everything in it only goes 12 mph. Im not a wrencher but have it at shop and Im told with the way the carb is set up and the throttle cable it should be running 25 mph. Any ideas? At last resort I will take it 4 hours away to Don Ploughman himself to figure out but really don't want to.

Is the governor still connected? Got plenty of power up to 12mph? Or is it sluggish?

Stock speed with the governor at factory setting was around 12-13 mph. The governor is located on top of the differential. Run the 10mm nut in almost all the way to tighten the spring. That should get you close to 20 mph. A lot of people on here just bypass the governor. There is a sticky on this. Have a read.

Doesn't the performance kit from Plowmans include the procedure for the gov bypass? It doesn't make much sense to make the improvements and keep the gov in place.

After I put the kit on the G22, Don gave me the instructions for the gov delete and valve adjustment over the phone...

What did you do to the governor? Did you drill it out or bypass and run cable to carb?
