Default 2004 G22 Yamaha, start and stop problem

Cart wasn't running so I replaced, coil, fuel filter, hoses, fuel pump, and carb. Now, have to pump gas petal, slowly, sometimes it only takes two or three pumps, sometimes it takes 5 minutes. Once it takes off, it runs fine. Then when I stop to hit my golf ball, I have to go thru the same thing. Every time. So frustrating. Sometimes I can smell gas like it is flooded. Any help would be appreciated. I'm no mechanic, I've had two different people work on it. Thanks.

If you haven't done it already, replace the plug. NGK BPR2ES

Does using the choke help?

And Welcome...

Sometimes the choke helps, sometimes not. I bought the hottest plug that they recommend.

So when you "push" the pedal, the engine turns over? Where'd you get the carb from" Is it OEM?

Is your s/g belt tight? I had an issue where there was slack and the belt would just spin in the pulley and eventually grab but it couldn't be good in the s/g or belt. If I would pump the gas or would take off must of these time. Tightened it up and no problems since.

I'm with Bubba, loose starter belt or worn out brushes in starter!!

Could also be weak battery or poor elect connection!!

Good luck with those hit-n-miss china carbs. That was my first thought.. Carb condition & carb origin. The "mik-oh-no" china carbs are worth as little as their "low price".. Does your carb say "Mikuni" , or just a close "china misspelling" on the side. I wish more people understood what they were getting for the $25-130 range carbs, they suck. The real OEM carb is expensive, but its not trash.

Oh, I missed the "Yes it turns over" post.

I agree, the only thing that requires an OEM carb to need replacement is a "worn out/sloppy" throttle shaft! Everything else is fixable!!

ok, I'm lost. Can I try and simplify.

1. check battery to see if it good. And check connections.
2. tighten belt.
3. check starter brushes.
4. replace carb.

I am assuming no one thinks it is gas related (too much/not enough).

My buddy was wanting to see if carb had an adjustment on it. Thinking that was all it needed. We haven't really started trouble shooting yet. I wanted to see if someone on here could narrow it down.
