New to me g9 oil leak
I bought this yami g9 about a month ago. I took it for about a half a mile test ride before buying and due to my work schedule haven't been able to use it much since. Here is what leads to my question. After the half mile test drive, I trailered it home, and parked it in the garage and noticed a dime sized oil spot underneath about a week later. I took it out a few weekends ago for about a 4 mile cruise, and again parked it. This time the oil spot was about 4" in diameter, the next time I moved it (a week after the cruise). Is there something common that fails with these g9s that would cause this? The cart is stock, and the 4 mile cruise was at 95% throttled the whole ride. The oil spot is directly under the cart and appears to be dripping from the frame. I don't have pics, but it seemed like some oil may be around the head gasket. Any input is appreciated, I'm fairly new to carts.

Re: New to me g9 oil leak
Could be the engine block oil drain bolt threads or gasket damaged. Also could be the engine side case gasket is blown. Is there any oil showing between the dipstick and the 2 bolts on the side case?

Can also be the rocker cover, which is kind of bad if it is. Because the oil will run down the fins under the shrouding and plug them with dirt and dust it collects. You have to take it all off and clean the fins out or it will run hot.

I will verify all of this when I return home from a work trip. I am hoping it's a simple fix vs an excessive tear down. I have also seen that 1qt of oil max for these carts is suggested otherwise they can leak, is this true?

Ditto that. When my G14 was dripping oil it turned out just to be the rocker arm cover gasket. It is certainly easy enough to check this first and is an easy fix to stop the leak.

Re: New to me g9 oil leak
Its not that bad to take the shrouding off but be careful of the bolts I broke one getting them out. You have to take the muffler off iirc but that is easy. I scraped it out with a screwdriver then sprayed it with brake cleaner to remove any oil, worked great but do it outside due to fumes lol. Carefully seal the rocker cover I used permatex on it. Its too bad people check the valve lash or inspect and don't realize the thing leaks after that, then it makes a big mess inside there (if that is the case here).

Here is the pics of the oil, notice some inside the side shield as well as in the starter.
Am I missing a hose on the top pump? |

There is a hose from the back of the air box that goes to the valve cover. It looks like its still attached to the air box.

Problem found I think!! This little guy was laying on the muffler, and was disconnected from the pump resulting in spewed oil all over!
