Default Determining cart model and year

Hi all, new member here. I just acquired a gas Yamaha golf cart as part of a package deal. I don't play golf any more, but would like to modify this and have fun with it. Decent shape and runs good, just have no idea what model it is so I get the right parts for it. Is there a tag on it somewhere that I can check numbers? Thanks for any help,

Gary

Or some description. Steering wheel & column, white or black? Does the whole body flip backward for access? Does just the seat cushion flip forward? The whole seat base flip forward? Does it use the key to select F & R? Does it have a real glass windshield? Does the park brake latch on the pedal go all the way across the top of the pedal, or just the corner of the pedal? Does it have a large utility box on the back that hinges up for access to motor?(if so, is the cart red or green?). If you answer these specific questions, i can identify them very closely.

Steering wheel and column are black, brake lock is all the way across top of pedal, forward/reverse is lever on front part of seat base between driver and passenger. Seat cushion flips forward.

Because of the "air box breather vent" by your left leg, I would asume a G14 (1995/early 1996), but body parts can be changed. Let's see a picture of the engine.

Yep, if your airbox hooks to that air inlet, its a G14.

If it is a G14, any pros or cons, things to watch for or be carefull of when I am redoing this cart?

Yes, the engine air box does hook up to that air inlet.

Well, if its an earlier model with the tougher Yamaha built axle, your in luck (best golf cart axle ever IMO). The newer dana axle (with black cover on back) is not bad, but the older one hardly ever needs any internal work. Get engine tuned up & running good, get clutches in good shape & good belt, then you will be good to go for a long time. I suggest staying away from cheap belts & aftermarket clutch parts, the stock Yamaha belt is the minimum belt quality i recommend. I like the Gboost HD belt, and i hear good things about Plowmans stuff. Some combustion chamber & ring cleaner is a good idea from time to time. When ordering air filter, its same one as G1.

Thanks for all the great replies. I just ran out and looked at rear axle. It has the black cover and a sticker that says Spicer. So it looks like I don't have the Yamaha axle. As I get it fixed up with the mods I will post pictures. Thanks again.
