Default G16 must choke at start and won't idle

I have to choke the cart when I first start it, no matter whether it is 90 degrees or 9, longer in cool weather, a few seconds at 90 degrees. Once running no choking is required. Purchased it running this way so I checked hoses, replaced fuel pump, air filter, spark plug and cleaned carburetor. Second issue is now it won't idle, when you barely press the accelerator, it jumps then dies and is like riding a bucking bronco and spills my coffee. Could this be from improperly reattaching the throttle cable from the carb clean? Don't recall having that problem until I cleaned it.

Welcome to BGW!

Choke to start is pretty much normal. A stock cart is not supposed to idle, when you press the gas you go. It should not "jump" on take off, make sure the linkage is working properly.

This may have nothing to do with what your describing, but............ I had an old truck at one time that got worse and worse at needing to be choked on start. It got to where even if I had just shut it off I had to choke it and crank the engine over and over before it would start.

The problem, Low compression.
