Could be as little as lack of grease in the sliding sheave bushing or the bushing is bad because lack of greasing. Does the noise sound like "growling"? Grease it and see if it goes away first. And check for play on the input shaft bearing like Dave said. Hope for the best

Grease the secondary sliding sheave 2 or three shots. Run it with the seat on (grease can be thrown around) then jacked up or in nuetral, watch the secondary to see if it "wobbles". You can really see the belt deflection if it's bad.

Greased 3 still made noise no wable at all clutch operated as normal greases 2 more times at 2 each noise went away 7 pumps total went around the block nice and quiet then started really loud went towards the house then it let loose. Secondary nut had backed off causing it all to come out the bottom I did find spring both plates and nut and washer but no keyway

Got that all fixed greased 3 shots went away for a mile or so now growling is starting back and I'm getting it jerking now. When I coast to a stop it acts like a downshift from 3rd to 1st where the tires chirp. And when accelerating it seems to not kick up rpms to go above stock speed then when it does growling comes back

noise is kind of growling or something grinding on a gear From rear end. it seems to surge in power a bit like it may have a weak spring I cannot get it to duplicate on stands or in neutral only while moving

Take the cover off the primary clutch and check to see if there are flat spots on the rollers!!

Remove the seat, remove the belt, put it in gear, and push the car forward and backward to see if you can locate the noise!!

Post pictures of clutches!!
