Default Troubleshooting g2 Yamaha gas cart running issues

Hi, I am trying to get a G2 running properly. It used to run with the choke half way, but now will only run for a minute and then shut down. It's getting spark and fuel. Carb is a clean disappointment. It will run strong when shooting starter fluid into the air intake, but as soon as I assemble everything back together it will not perform. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Air box? Does it have all the baffles in it? All the seals in place? Air box must be perfect.

Thanks for the reply. It actually has an after market K&N air filter going directly to the carb. There is no air box. I have cleaned the air filter. It has never had an air box since I've owned it. It ran great at 7,500ft of elevation. I'm now at sea level. I never changed the jetting thou. It actually seemed to run much richer at sea level, although the spark plug never looks foul. I was thinking it must be a vaccum issue with the fuel being fed to the carb. Could it need the fuel filter replaced? Fuel flows from the line when disconnected. Someone mentioned that maybe it wasn't getting a hot enough spark. Sometimes it will run for 2 minutes, then once it's warmed up, will sputter out and sound like its bogging down then die. I have to get this thing running. Thank you for your time.

Have you checked compression?

Sounds to me like your carb needs cleaned, did you break the carb down? I would remove the carb take the bowl off and remove anything that comes apart and get a good carb cleaner and spray it down or soak it, blow it out with air and put it back together.. another thing you can try is take your breather off and while cranking the engine put you hand flat over the rear of the carb to create a suction sometimes that will pull the dirt out that's clogging the carb... good luck

Thanks for the help guys. Yes the compression was good. I tore the carb apart as you described. I'm not sure how I was able to get fuel flowing to the carb when I checked, but I ended up taking the fuel pump apart and found a nasty clog in the vaccum port. Cleaned it and reassembled and now the cart is running. I still have to have the choke knob partially pulled out to keep running thou. My latest issue is that it wouldn't start. So I flicked the 2 fuses under the driver seat and it ran. Then it died and I would hear the solenoid clicking rapidly when depressing the gas pedal and would not turn over. I pulled out the same two fuses to inspect them. Put them back in and the cart started right up. So now I'm back to trouble shooting the need to have the choke out to run smoothly. Also if I push the gas pedal all the way, it will bog down and run poorly. Could that be a valve adjustment issue? Thanks again.

Ran great at 7500ft but needs choke at sea level .........if it was jetted correctly at 7500 ft with k and n filter then it's lean hence the half choke I'd try bigger main je

Do you know the jet sizing? And also, when you purchase a new stock carb, does it come with jetting for sea level? Thanks again.

Check your battery cable posts, need to be tight

Stock jets ive heard 102 to 115, you need 115 to 135 with k&n
