G16 down on power when climbing hills
Cart feel like it wont down shift to compensate climbing a hill. Starts off strong and then come to a crawl. Performance seems ok on flat land.
I found a post on here to put the back in the air and cycle the clutching to see what its doing so I will do that. How far in to the secondary should the belt be sitting at rest? |

Clear to top!!
No more than 2 pumps of grease in each Zirk on each Sheave. (One on Primary and one on secondary) And check to see that the 3 ramp shoes(nylon blocks) in spring seat are there!! Not aluminum rubbing aluminum!! |

Re: G16 down on power when climbing hills
Down-shifting problems on these carts can be caused by worn rollers on the primary, a worn secondary sliding sheeve, and a worn belt, most commonly. If the belt is fairly easy to roll off then it's probably a big part of your issue. If the primary clutch has never had rollers replaced, they almost certainly need it.

I've got the Performance Kit on a G22 and it kicks a$$. Everything in one package.

Re: G16 down on power when climbing hills
I just my G16 today with a Plowmans Performance kit and Don had rebuilt my primary clutch. With shipping and the clutch pullers I think it cost me $600 but it was more than worth it. The high flow air filter and the mods he does, combined with the bigger jets on the carb, easily pull another horse of two out of the motor, and when you combine that with his clutch system, you'll have a cart that can pull a 5000# boat. Not exaggerating. Not one bit.
