Need help with G1 asap please!
The cart turns over and over but won't move. Sometimes it will run other times nothing, same with putting the key in reverse sometimes work. Any ideas to check? I'm stumped and of course the cart is being used at the drag strip.
Weird thing is I disconnected a little wire going to the starter generator and it ran fine till the battery died. Any help is appreciated |

Re: Need help with G1 asap please!
Hi,
We had a similar problem--intermittent running, stumbling, hard or not starting or only starting in reverse. Check the line from the fuel pump to the crankcase for cracks. http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/gas-y...fuel-pump.html Amazing how much better our carts run when getting fuel to the engine. Replacement line cost us only a buck. Hope this helps. Chris Yamaha G1A3 J17 (1982) |

Re: Need help with G1 asap please!
2 cycle engines wear quickly, and when worn will run while cold/cool but when they warm up, they will sometimes run badly or not run at all.
Check the basics: fuel, spark, compression Make sure you check compression cold and hot then compare. For a G1 to run well, compression should be in the 100 psi range. Check the manual for the specs. If you don't have a manual, get one, very useful and will pay for itself many times over. Your problem, if heat related, is probably worn rings and/or crank seals. Very common for a 2 stroke engine. |
