Smile crankshaft seal install method

Hi, everyone. I just got the crankshaft seals into my 1986 G-1 and came up with a home made tool to put them in. On the fan side I cut a piece of 1-1/2" pvc pipe bought 2 large washers and used the crankshaft and nut from the engine to make a press. On the clutch side I just used the clutch sleeve and inner pulley with a large washer and pressed the seal in. I used a little grease and they slid right in! I had tried tapping them in with a hammer and damaged the seals. Maybe this will help someone else out there. Thanks again for all the advice.

that sounds good! i would watch the grease, if you put grease on the outside of the seal it may want to push back out when running. i put loctite on them, but that's just my 2 cents

That does sound like a better idea, but too late for me. I guess I will find out the hard way this spring. Thanks
