Default G1 worn chassis looking for ideas .

So I have a g1 that has horrible play in the steering . King pins , bushings and wheel bearings are pretty shot. wondering what you guys recommend here.
Do any of the lift kits out there cover these parts as well as lifting the cart ? And other ideas or thoughts ? Thanks

I haven't seen a lift kit that comes with those parts. The lift kits require you to re-use the king pins that you have. As far as wheel bearing and bushings go you can find them from the site sponsors for a pretty reasonable price. The last time I looked the inner and outer wheel bearing set was around $35-$40. Of course you would need to buy 2 kits to replace the inner and outer bearings in both front wheels. Bushings should also be reasonable on price but I can't tell you how much they would cost since I make my own. IMO I would pay the money to buy the replacement parts. The G1 is an awesome cart and once those problems are fixed you won't regret spending the money. Just my 2 cents on the matter.

Look for something different and move on. If the cart is worn that bad in the front the odds are pretty good the rear probably isn't in good condition either.

I started a G1 with all those problems and a lot more, everything you mentioned is easy to find and fairly cheap and easy to do, get that replaced and fill the steering box with grease instead of oil and it'll drive fine.

There is some adjustment on the steering box. Also the wheel bearings are easy to do. King pins usually just need new bushings. Even if they are not 100% tight, they will last a long time if you use the cart lightly.

If you are happy with the cart and have no other problems I would rebuild it. Just did mine and it was easy. Replaced king pins, bushings etc. there are some new old stock parts to be found as well as aftermarket. What year G1 do you have ? I am a big fan of them and have 3 project carts lined up for the future.

Also, the transaxle should be ok if there is clean oil in it. A bad sign would be milky/dirty oil or worse...no oil. Smell the oil when you drain it, it should just smell like oil/grease. If it smells burned, you'll likely see some debris. You can strain it though a piece of old t shirt or cheese cloth to check for metal pieces. Metal pieces would be from worn or broken gears.

The axle bearings are replaceable, although not an easy job. Put up on jackstands, sit below tire, grab tire with both hands and wiggle up and down. This will determine if the axle bearings are worn. Most are a little, but lots of movement is bad. This could be catastrophic at speed.+

Used transaxles shouldn't be difficult to find.
