Default What is it?

Last Friday I became the proud owner of what I'm told is a 1980's 2 stroke Yamaha, it was used on a Texas deer lease for 10+ plus years then sat idle on a ranch for another couple.

I spent the weekend removing scorpions, spiders, cleaning, painting, checking connections and after changing the gas (40/1) and battery she runs, So now I need your help to tell me exactly what she is / was so I can order manuals, spares service parts etc etc .

I cant find any serial numbers stamped or otherwise, only remaining "sticker" says "Put Oil here" but it appears the oil here filler plug has been removed....

Hopefully the attached pictures will give you a clue!!

Many Thanks
Jon

Check the rear lower frame where a rear bumper would mount for a stamped serial number. It is a G1 Yamaha 1980's in very nice condition, nice job. Looks like you need a new drive belt.

The original oil injection system is removed. So keep doing what you are doing with mixed gas. Original system had a oil tank for 2-cycle oil, and straight gas in the tank. Oil tank lasted roughly 10 tanks of gas. I worked on boats for a while, so automatic oil injection is no friend of mine (or the owners of countless victims of failed oil injection).

Oil injection also makes harder starting due to a little oil getting sucked into the motor when you shut it off

I'm not trying to start an argument but the stock pump puts out 150:1-300:1 thats less oil than a 100:1 premix (that most of us run) if it's sucking oil into motor when "shut off" it's also sucking fuel so really a premix would put more oil into motor than a stock injection pump making your theory invalid
