Jakes spindle lift for yamaha g22 question
I just ordered jakes 6" spindle lift and the aluminum wheels spacers for the rear. My question is does the jakes spindle kit reuse the stock rear springs? I want to get heavy duty rear springs but don't want to order them if they aren't used. Thanks!

Re: Jakes spindle lift for yamaha g22 question
It uses the stock coil over shocks, front and rear.

Do you think it'd be beneficial to buy the whole shock and coil assembly or just the coil itself?

Re: Jakes spindle lift for yamaha g22 question
No back seat on my G16. I installed aftermarket HD replacement rear shocks. Way too stiff--I returned them and put the old ones back on. I suspect that the Jakes replacement springs are stiff, too. With a back seat, it's probably a different story...

Re: Jakes spindle lift for yamaha g22 question
I have a backseat on mine and a hitch. I'm also doing a diesel swap so I'll be pulling a trailer with it. I'm just debating if I want to do just the spring or if I want to do the whole thing since I'm that far into it already

What about airbags? Do you think that would be a good way to go? Be able to adjust the ride to the liking?

Re: Jakes spindle lift for yamaha g22 question
Just a thought, but if You're doing the diesel swap, what kind of charging output does that Kubota have? I know with most of the gas swaps, the charging systems are pretty aenemic, so unless You rig up your OEM starter/generator to get decent charging, stuff like lights, a compressor for the bags, etc might give You some battery issues ...
That said, there are a LOT of coil-over options out there that will fit a G22, I have used generic Nitrogen Coil-overs on several Yamahas, they're nice because many have an adjustable preload that can easily be set for a soft ride OR a really firm one. If You go about an inch and a half longer than stock with a 4-600lb rated shock, that should give You all the adjustability You need, and at a decent price point (around $100 a pair). Here's an example of a set we did on a G22 last year, 400lb rated at 1.75" longer than stock - at a low-mid preload they were a cadillac ride, crank em up and they could handle any trailer You would throw at the cart DSCN0930.jpg DSCN0931.jpg |

Re: Jakes spindle lift for yamaha g22 question
The diesel has its own alternator on it which will be upgraded with a much better alternator anyways.
Those coil overs are badass! Where do you get those? Do they have to be adjusted manually? Or are they electronically? |

Re: Jakes spindle lift for yamaha g22 question
Manually, unfortunately - but they are very easily accessed through the panel behind the seat (although in your case with a rear seat, that could provide an issue) .... They're all over Ebay, most are listed as Motorcycle Nitrogen Shocks and run around $100 a set.
