speaker install
I have a 2011 YD gas, I have put 2 speakers behind the driver and passenger seat, I was wondering where everyone else is putting their speakers. it doesn't seem like there is much room to put them in the compartment behind your legs or between the forward/reverse lever. any cool ideas or pics would be appreciated.

Re: speaker install
We install a lot of these speakers, they are CRAZY for the price, outperform any 6.5's out there for under $300, are completely water and weatherproof, and can be driven with a decent class D micro-amp:
https://www.amazon.com/MCM-60-10031-...=mcm+wakeboard The amp we have been using for a little over a year for the installs, drives the above speakers VERY nicely with minimal if any distortion - even to the levels needed by "Big Block" conversion carts - VERY nice amps and easy to install/hide: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Here are some pics of how we generally mount them on carts, easy as can be - get a 48" piece of 1 3/8" tubing, mount it to the seat uprights, and clamp the speakers to the tubing. $6 for the tubing at Home Depot or Lowes, plastic plugs for the ends at $0.65 each, 2 bolts, done. What's nice is if You want the speakers can be mounted above or below the pipe depending on your needs - here is the install on an EZGO, a G22 (with the body off in the pic) and a G16 ... DSCN0952.jpg VC03.jpg DSCN0935.jpg IMHO (and I Own and Operate "Brew City Music" - a Live Sound and Field Production company, so I know a bit about quality sound, LOL) it's a total waste to mount speakers under your legs facing forward, and even the overpriced dash kits that turn your cubbys into enclosures aren't so great - the theory is nice but sealing and stuffing them correctly to get the best acoustic output from a 5.75 or 6.5" speaker just isn't going to happen without FAR too much work. These cheap Wakeboard cans are an insane deal for under $100, we've tested them side by side with Bazooka "Tubbies" as well as the lower-end Rockfords' and they seriously hold their own to levels You will never NEED a foot behind your head, LOL. Keep in mind, any reflection between the directional output of a speaker and your ears is going to result in a loss of frequencies as well as volume, especially if the speakers are aimed more or less directly at a rubber floor mat. |
