My *new* G1 project
hello everyone, I just got back on here after a move from Georgia to rhode island! and the first thing I did was sucker down and purchase a good old fixer upper from craigslist for $150! good deal? bad deal? time will tell. the goods: engine runs, cart drives (although I haven't driven it, just put it on blocks and the wheels spin), uh...engine runs! the bads: frame rotted in spots, broke in 2 spots that ive found, gas was bad (I think not only water but they tried to pre mix it as well), no front body, back body with damage, rear bumper was riding the wheel, all the bolts are rusted and have been breaking on me, I had to cut the bumper with a saws-all, gas tank straps had to cut off, brake needs work because its sticking, frame is all bent up and rotted out not only on the tubed frame but the box frame as well...but hey the engine runs! and I also have no idea what the year is..im am pretty sure its a G1 though, I cant find the J10-014927 serial number anywhere online...

Re: My *new* G1 project
J10-000101 = 1978
J10-007705 = 1980 j10-030101 = 1981 looks good to me. it might be a big project getting all the parts you need but for 150 what the heck...the engine runs. mine is a 1981 |

Re: My *new* G1 project
so looks like its a 78, well thats a start! I guess not trying to put all original on it will help out. I mean the two major things is the frame and the lack of body...bright side is I don't have to do body work now!

Re: My *new* G1 project
Wow, that's a big project.
Think you would have better luck finding good parts in Georgia. I parted out a G8 last summer and may have some parts very cheep that will work for you, Or if you get back to GA. I will give you every thing I have left! Too bad, I had a guy that just needed the rear 1/2 of the frame. I cut it in 1/2 and sold it to him for $20 |

Re: My *new* G1 project
yea Georgia definitely had more parts and pieces available for sure. A new frame definitely would make this project a just pull everything off and put it all on the new frame simple. but I guess since I don't have that available I now get to practice my welding(or lack of) skills
