Float Chargers
I think my battery is getting old and considering getting a Battery Tender or something similar to keep it topped off. Does anyone use them and with what results? Harbor Freight has some inexpensive units but I would hate to damage anything in the electrical system because I didn't spend another $20 for something quality.
The cart usually needs a jump after sitting for a month or longer and then starts fine after that as long as I drive it once a week. |

Re: Float Chargers
I don't think it would get enough light to charge sitting in the shop lol....

Re: Float Chargers
I've used a SaveABattery 48 volt for about 3 years. I charge the batteries and then attach the maintainer and leave it on for extended periods when the cart isn't in use. I'm well pleased with it. I think it prolonged the life of my old batteries.

Re: Float Chargers
I have harbor freight units on every toy I own as well as Mr Chevy across the street with units on all his toys. They work great.

Re: Float Chargers
If the battery has a bad cell, a 1 amp charger may not work to keep it topped off.
Friend bought one of them hf ones for a motorcycle with a bad cell it wouldn't ever work. If the battery is good then it will |

Re: Float Chargers
I have a real battery tender brand that is at least 12 years old and works like new!
I have had 2 or 3 harbor freight tenders, come and go in that time. I use a lot of Harbor Freight stuff but the chargers I got were mediocre. |

Re: Float Chargers
Thanks for the tips everyone. All of the recent reviews of the actual Battery Tender were negative - it sounds like they are importing them and quality is an issue. On the flip side- the Centec cried by HF are all positive. I'll pick 1 up this morning!
