Default What shocks will fit G1 with 4" lift?

Looking to replace mine. I also want to get a new bumper front and back and get a flip rear seat, rhino line the floor, roof supports and roof, new wheels and tires and have the body painted to match my truck. I'm having new cart envy down here in Poat Aransas and was thinking of selling this one and getting a new one but then thought screw that let's just improve the one I have and make it look a little more modern.

Default Re: What shocks will fit G1 with 4" lift?

shock's may fit ie be the correct length
but have the wrong valving to match the spring rates
wheel and tyre size can also be a major factor
big wheels 14-13-12'' and small side wall tyres
also are stiffer/ruffer riding then 8-10'' with balloon tyres

ideally the shock has to be close to the spring rate to absorb the motion
and have adequate range of movement so as not to bottom out and allow
a full range of movement of the wheel

some car shocks are adjustable to fine tune the ride
but as they are made for a much heavier car
most will be far too stiff on a cart

so you are stuck with buggy or quad stuff
or the lift makers units if any
or use stock shocks with spacer/adapter mounts

I ordered the cheap ones off eBay for stock length g1 don't buy them took of the springs to paint them and all they are is springs with a replica "shock absorber" all it is is a slider for looks

I'm guessing I just need stock ones because the 4" lift is more like a body lift and just uses spacers to keep the same shock location. Am I correct in thinking this?
