Carburetor. If you follow some of the threads here you'll find a common rant. The $80+ part from a "reputable vendor " may well be the same$19 one off Amazon- made in China with no quality control. Could go through 4 or 5 before you find one that works even just ok. Rebuilding the original (if you still have it) is the way to go.

Check valve lash then check compression will it fire if you spray a little carb cleaner or ether in it?

Just in case you were wondering "did I get a real Yamaha carb, or cheap China garbage?"

Its rare a carburetor goes bad anyway. Reading through these threads you see hundreds changed, the reality is 95 percent didn't need to be changed.
Same goes with fuel pumps-rare they fail.

Simple check-When it doesn't run-spray some carb cleaner into the carb and see if it fires on that, if so, you know its a fuel issue at that point. Most common issue is a clogged carb, but a simple clean, fixes it. Also check fuel lines for a leak as that will cause fuel not to flow.

Three questions:

- Is the fuel in the tank more than 6 months old?
- Does the fuel contain Ethanol?
- Did you ensure that the fuel supply lever (top of tank on mine) was in the 'on' position?

I've committed all three of the above 'stupid sins', and I bet I'm not alone.

Good Luck
