Default Disabling neutral / making it only have F&R

In our neighborhood we have recently had an issue with the teenagers steeling golf carts to joyride.. I'm wanting to take preventive measure to make sure mine isn't messed with.

I have already replaced the stock ignition with a uncommon key'd version. They day after i did this one of my buddies demonstrated how easy it is to steel in the neutral position.. So i want to see if there is a way to manually lock it out of being able to go into neutral.

Any thoughts or ideas?

there is always "the club" that locks the steering wheel to increase the difficulty to steel.

the unique key should take care of most joy riders

other options that are easy is to add a battery disconnect with a key,, requires extra stuff and time to bypass...

if someone wants to steal your cart and has time they will get it

On my G22 I added a quick disconnect steering wheel to deter the like. Kind of hard to joy ride with no wheel lol. I also added a hidden keyed battery disconnect, a fuel Shutoff and wired in a switch before the key that has to be on before the ignition wire gets power. Past that, if someone is determined and smart enough, they could steal it. That is what the nice insurance policy is for ;)

The easiest way to stop it from being pushed away is to put a chain through one wheel and around the frame or even through 2 of the wheels.

Unfortunately that only works unless one is smart enough to grab a $7 pair of bolt cutters. 5 seconds and they are gone without a sound.

Most joy riders dont carry a pair of bolt catters . The last good chain I cut took a 3 foot long pair of quality 50$ + bolt cutters.
If its that bad put a alarm on it and turn the sensitivity up.

Like the other guy said, if someone else wants it bad enough, they will get it !

Not arguing bud, just playing devils advocate. I have more security than most and the the deterance of joy riders is FAR easier than deterring theft. By simply removing my steering wheel, I virtually kill all joy riding, but when you can just pick up the front or back of a cart to get on a trailer, nothing on a cart is capable of stopping it from happening.

Guy I know buried bunch of cement blocks and concrete/steel in the ground with a cable around it. He locks that on the frame. If someone don't see it in the dark well, it does not go that far. He locks up his trailers with it too.
