How to get my Yamaha gasser to go faster??
Is there anyway to get my 2016 gasser to reach mid 20's? I have 12" weeks with 23" tires and I have adjusted the governor, and I can get close to 20mph out of it now. Any way to get it closer to 25-30?

Check the accelerator cable adjustments, Accelerator cable #1, at the pedal, you must leave alittle slack, or the end could could break off. Accelerator cable #2 has an adjustment also. Adjust it so when you push the pedal, it releases the brake and the engine starts turning over, but the throttle shaft on the cab is not opening till that happens. If it's to loose, you won't get full wide open throttle, to tight and it will back fire.

High speed gears. Best way to do it. Newer cars its an option now

I agree that high sped gears are the way to go for increased speed if you are running the stock 18" tires. But with 23's, high speed gears will put too much of a load on a stock engine, and you will lose a lot of your hill climbing/ pulling power. It might work ok, if you live in Florida or another place that's basically flat. I wouldn't do it if there are any hills to deal with, and/or you plan on carrying more than 1 other person.

Re: How to get my Yamaha gasser to go faster??
SHO is right, You need to talk to Don Plowman. If your cart is the EFI model, there's not a lot that can be done other than improvements in clutching, etc because the RPM's are controlled by the OBC. If it's a carbureted model, Don can set You up with all kinds of options, depending on where Your budget will allow You to go.
HS gears are still an option *if* You also spend the $$ to improve your clutching to compensate, without improved clutching though they will (as mentioned above) really rob the cart of a ton of torque and accel. |
