Default Radio on Yamaha G1 golf cart

I've looked on the sight and I haven't found anyone having the same issue I'm having. I replaced a older radio with a new boss radio with Bluetooth and auxialary should be plug and play right!! The old radio was just a CD player no. Bluetooth or auxiliary New radio sound great power to a switch ground to the battery. In the garage it sounds great. I lower the body and go to take off and the radio is making a popping noise Like a bad connection. Pull back in the garage and check all of the connections. Nothings loose Again sounds great in the garage. So I take my meter and check volts 12.46. While jacked up I run the cart volts drop to 4.50 to 6 back to 12 on and off the gas. I pull the battery out of my Honda scooter and hook up the radio. Sounds great in the garage. I pull out of the garage and it sounds good. Then I take off it has a lot of static and sounds horrible. Can the radio be picking up something from the cart? It's a $50 radio from Autozone. I never had any of these problems with the older radio. The radio it mounted in the body above the exhaust.

Are the wires ran close to the motor? Another thing where are you taking that voltage reading at if that's at the battery you your voltage regulator is likely problem needs to be in the 14.5v range when running if it's the original voltage regulator you can take the cap off and there's a set screw inside that can be adjusted in (if I remember correctly) to get higher voltage I would look into this

to what he said.

Something is wrong with your charging circuit. Your voltage shouldn't be dropping like that. It seems as if what's happening is that your voltage is dropping too much to run the radio right. I am actually surprised your battery is staying charged.

If you have an original style metal voltage regulator you can take the housing off and you'll see an adjustment screw in there. Turn that screw in or out (I am not sure which way at the moment) and see what happens to you voltage. It may take a few tries to get it.

Now, that your volts are dropping that much is a concern over and above the VR. You may want to check your starter / gen brushes as well.

Old thread, the OP hasn't posted since 2017, doubt you'll get a quick response.

G1 back seat kits are usually universal kits made to fit. There are kits available. Since the rear body section tilts back, it's difficult to use rear seats. I have found the body tends to bounce around with the added weight and leverage.
