If I recall, doesn't the G1 pump plug directly into the block, with a nipple on the pump. None of the common cart pumps do that

not sure on all years but mine bolted on the case and had a rubber line that went to the block.

if you have your old pump I think you can clean it and replace the diaphragm.

I personally bought a Yamaha pump because mine was missing. cost $97 but its a quality pump.

That's right, there is a short hose, so any of the common pumps could easily be retrofit.

The pump is compression driven i think fuel is leaking past the diaphragm filling up the bottom end then 15 min later evaporating allowing me to drive it another 15 min.

Really, it's not compression driven but rather it's driven by vacuum from the crankcase. You can have great compression but poor vacuum and your pump won't work. What's probably happening is that your carb's bowl is emptying out after 15 mins because your pump isn't filling it up efficiently during operation. You are correct that the vacuum will fill it back up some when stopped which could be why you are getting 15 mins out of it.

Something is likely causing you to lose vacuum. Bad crank seals are always prime suspects but look for other stuff too like cracked hoses, poor hose connections, gas tank not vented well, etc.

Yes the gas tank vent was pluged on my G1 & caused problems until I figured it out. might check that.
