Angry G1 gas won't fire

I have a Yamaha cart that won't fire. Alot of splices in wiring. I thank it is a
G1-Am3 1983 cart, The number in motor is J24-010936. Checked wiring it was ok.

Welcome to BGW! Have you checked the three solenoids on the passenger rear fender well. Also make sure the coil is firing to the plug.

The coils are fine. The engine turns over forward and reverse, but no spark on plug, don't know if this is normal, but when you turn the key to run in reverse and then back to off the plug will fire one time. Will not do this when I turn to forward then off.

the new guy,
i was searching craigslist under the metro detroit area and found this 16 hp engine that i thought would be a good deal for one of you gas members i'm a sparky myself. check it out the price is $500.00

the engine is listed under farm and garden there are 3 pics there but i can't upload them they are to big and i dont know how to downsize them.
