Help on calculating gear ratio's
Before I sell (what I thought) was high speed gears to Bryan, I want to verify the #'s. The ring gear has 67 teeth, the counter gear has 22 teeth. Now I was always told to divide the ring number by the counter number. That would make this set 3:1! Just can't be right. The lowest I've heard of is 6:1. Any help would be great. I'm not going to sell a gear set that isn'y right. Thanks Dave

Re: Help on calculating gear ratio's
Thanks Spriddle! Seems like a really low (high speed) ratio. Would probably need a tourque spring to help with "giddy up"! Dave

Re: Help on calculating gear ratio's
The 6:1 and 8:1 are final ratios figuring all 4 or 5 gears in the trans 6:1 is the lowest ratio made

Re: Help on calculating gear ratio's
I got a question. I have 2 different rear ends. Both out of EZ Go Workhorse 1200's. When I rotate the brake hub, it will rotate 1 complete turn to the clutch shafts 13 rotations so its 13/1 ratio. The other rear end is 7/1 ratio. Of these 2 rear ends, which one will give me more top end? 13/1 or 7/1?

Re: Help on calculating gear ratio's
Bio, I say the 7 to 1, for speed.
And Block, I'm gonna guess its a 2 to 1 ratio from the secondary clutch to the primary clutch with the motor at high revs. Make sense? |
