2013 Yamaha EFI Drive - engine check light
Hello, my check engine light comes on and stays on after I start driving. At first, immediately after starting, the light comes on for 1-2 seconds and goes off as normal. It quickly comes back on and stays on until the end of my ride. The oil level is full and oil is clean. I have looked for any indication of error codes, short flashing, but have seen none. Cart runs fine... but the light makes me wonder. Closest Yamaha dealer is 2 hours away. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Re: 2013 Yamaha EFI Drive - engine check light
Just went for a ride and I did get an error code. This time I checked for error codes after the light had already come on. The code is as follows, ----......, 4long and 6 short flashes, it's repeating. Does anyone have a way cipher this code? Thanks.

If i remembered, this is battery or something related to your starter (alternator. Try to replace the battery first and go from there

Re: 2013 Yamaha EFI Drive - engine check light
Thank you for the info, i checked the battery-good, I checked the SG and it is charging the battery but the voltage is ramping up to 17.5. I installed a new VG 2 weeks ago but I guess I'll start looking close at it and the wiring. Thanks again for the info on the error code.

17.5 is way to high that will cook your battery did you use OEM parts?

17.5 is way to high. The problem with yamahas is an over charge situation is normally not the VR

Re: 2013 Yamaha EFI Drive - engine check light
Hello, I did some wire checking at the VR. I unplugged the blue connector from the VR. Key on and pedal pressed I had voltage on the green wire and on the r/w wire. I removed the NEW non-OEM VR and put my old OEM VR back on.
My max voltage reading back to the battery now is 15. Is this within the proper window of charging? If this is still too high where should I look next? Thanks for all the feedback guys. |

I forgot to mention, I am no longer throwing out the original error code.
