Default No back light No start

I purchased a 2002-03 Yamaha G22 Gas cart, the guy whom I purchased it from told me that the light that was mounted to the top(halogen light) if you disconnect it that the cart would not run.....so I disconnected the light out of curiosity and low and behold no juice at all to the starter.... what gives? is this normal? is the a way to bypass the light?

LOL, sorry,

The light was added on by some one, intentional or not the light is completing the circuit. Your going to have to follow the wiring to the source and see what the heck he done! But that is a strange way the wire a light!
Is the light on a switch?
You can always replace that light with a small clearance light if your not handy with wiring.

No switch at all, now what I'm wondering is if I take the light out of the circuit and just wire nut or butt splice wires together will that just create a direct short to ground apparently the light is somewhat of a resister

So I am guessing there is two hot wires at light? One in and one out? Plus a ground?

I could understand if it was switched, and he wired it so the switch had to be on to start the cart. Kinda like a anti theft device.

Don't think you have to worry about it being a resister.

This is what I have 2 wires not too sure about the ground the housing on light is plastic so I'm not to sure about the ground I guess the best thing to do is probably to get out the muiti meter and start probing around

Are both wires HOT??

That's the only way it would make senses. Wired inline to complete circuit. Not the way it should be done.

with a plastic housing they just use a metal tab to ground when mounting.

Sounds like they wired the light "in line" into either the Ignition key switch or stop switch wiring. Probably just a lazy way to run off the existing power (+) already running toward the front of the cart. Somebody just didn't know what they were doing.
