Default Broken governed rod G9

When installing new engine in G9 found governed pin was broke. Had planned to bypass anyway will it hurt anything running it that way without linkage attached? Broke off flush on top of housing.

Many others have, some cut it off. Its better to remove but most do not due to being a large job to get into trans, unless they are putting HS gears in or replacing parts anyway.

You will want to put HD springs in your new engine or be careful about running it high rpm as valve float can damage things eventually. That would be at top speeds only, with no governor. If you keep the governor on the new engine it may have to be adjusted up a little depending on where your clutch shifts at. Have to make sure clutch shifts lower rpm than engine governor is at.

Putting 18 hp clone engine in leaving engine governer stock setting running comet 94 clutch. Should I have any issues? Not looking to set land speed records with it. Just want to tow finish mower at my orchard with it.

It might be fine, you might have to adjust the governor a little or the clutch. If that is a 420/440 clone you can just get HD springs for $20 and toss the governor.
