Default G9 Starter Genertor Wire HOT?

Heys guys, what would cause this red "jumper" from the back to side of the starter moter to get Smokin Hot! New battery with clean and tight connections. Thinking a bad ground, but where? Gets hot and smokes quickly, within 30 seconds of cranking on engine............

I would take the starter/generator apart and test/inspect it. You may have a short between the brushes and end plate and feilds. Take it apart and post pix's. I've got a few tests you could do. Later Dave

Yanked the motor and popped off the inspection covers, fair amount of black "dirt" that seems to also have a metallic component to it, but doesn't looked burned up inside. That side terminal and wire DO looked burned up! What do ya'll think?

Don't breath that stuff!!!!!!!! Take it farther apart and take pic's. Looks like the feild stud is melted/toast. I'm shure someone or myself can find you a good used one. Later Dave

Ebay and get a new one for around $130. More than likely it will cost close to that to have it rebuilt.
