Re: Buying a cart some questions
What's a 97-14? ( Since a G-14 was a 1995-96 model only, but I'll guess that's what you think might be for sale). Do more research? They are all bad when they're worn out, most can be repaired with just the few pieces you need, and only a few need to be replaced as "a whole new unit". Unlike Clubcar and Ezgo, you can buy "only the parts you need" to repair that model clutch, and most all other Yamaha clutches. This is a big assumption, since model in question is not clear. (Some G-1 clutch parts are "all gone", and some 2007-2014 G-29 didn't have "individual parts" available)

Re: Buying a cart some questions
I thought that some of the Yamaha carts needed to have the clutches replaced. I'm sorry I did not do much research, and no butts but I was going today to look. Was just wondering if their is a specific model or year or clutch I should ignore. I mainly only buy older carts and fix them for my self or friends. This would be the newest I have ever bought or looked at, so I don't know as much about them. Thank you for the advice.

Re: Buying a cart some questions
Confused here. Are you looking for a 1997-2014 cart? 1996-2002= G16, '03-'06= G22. Both are very good carts. '07 and up is the Drive, or G29. I can't speak for those.

Re: Buying a cart some questions
I'm looking at all year ranges. Was just wondering if any specific model had any issues?
But if they are all good I'll just look for the best deal on the newest Yamaha I can afford. |

Re: Buying a cart some questions
The best deal on the newest you can find is a solid strategy. A G16, if it is not beat up too bad, would be ok. The G22 and newer have rack and pinion steering, and also have the larger 357 engine. I believe it was the 2007-2012 Team clutches that were a problem. I wouldn't worry about the clutches though, it's an easy fix if you end up with the wrong one. Just make sure the cart is solid and the engine is solid and sounds right.

Re: Buying a cart some questions
07-12 is the bad years if I recall. I have one of those years and I had to replace both clutches. I got the plowmans setup at over $600 but I’ve seen a team replacement setup to the newer style clutches about $200 cheaper. Like posted above, the newest cart for the cheaper price is usually a better deal, unless you find a very clean older one for a lot cheaper price or with a lot of accessories.

Re: Buying a cart some questions
So it looks like I'll look at a g-22 Monday for 2200$
I like the idea of a slightly larger engine. Hopefully it is in good shape seems like an alright price. |

Re: Buying a cart some questions
Yeah, that's not a bad price at all, $2500-3k is the going rate for a clean G22 gas, $3500 and up for G29 around here. The G22 clutches can wear and get flat spots, but they're fairly straightforward to rebuild (or send it to Don Plowman and have it repaired and modified, he's great w the Yamahas)
