Default clutc removal g9

I have a 87 g9 4 '' lift the drive clutch is bad I've removed outer portion and one of the links is broken. How do you remove the inner sheeve or do i have to. Thinking of buying a comet high perfomance clutch to replace stock one any suggestions? I also have a starting issue when depressing gas pedal i hear a click but no start if you hold the pedal down it seems that the starter begins to turn the motor and cart will start , seems like the switch under the gas pedal is bad. thanks for any insight . Lee

Lee Wood, you need the clutch puller tool for that inner sheave. You can buy one from a site sponsor, check to see if there is a loaner available here, or take the motor to a golf cart shop and see if they will help you out. It's really very simple and quick, you just need the right tool!

Im a auto mechanic I may have something that may work what does the puller look like . Are the comet clutches any good? Does the switch under the gas pedal start the motor?

As I have said in the past, I would just buy the Yamaha weight kits and rebuild the stock clutch. and you wouldn't need the "special" fixed sheave puller tool. I personally don't like the Comet clucth for early Yamaha's, they seem to not engage till a higher RPM. Just my 2 cents worth. On the starting issue...if you hear a "click", means the solenoid is energizing, so all components are ok up to the soilenoid. Either the solenoid is not letting battery voltage flow thru or a problem with the starter/generator (maybe brushes). If you like I could give you some tests with a voltmeter. Later Dave
