Gas G9 Electrical Starting issue

Good afternoon everybody. I am a newb to the world of golf carts and I like to learn so I bought one that has some issues. I found a wiring schematic that I was going to post but the PDF is too big. For all I know they may have the schematic labeled as a G9 and it might not be. I have looked in other posts with schematics and they seem to have the sam one as I do. It kinda has me baffled. The diagram does not show a path from the stop switch to the starter solenoid. It shows a path from main switch->stop switch->Ignition coil->Ignitor. The only wire going from the Ignitor to the Voltage regulator and the rest of the starting circuit is a single black wire which according to the schematic is a ground. The cart will turn over if you cross the terminals on the solenoid but will not by pressing on the pedal. Have no idea where to start looking for the problem due to the schematic not making any sense to me. Any help that you guys can provide would be amazing and thanks in advance.

I'm assuming you have a multi-meter and know how to use one.
I didnt when I started my buggy journey, but I have one now!

I seen that post and I did not think that would apply to me because I don't have a indicator light for low oil. Did they all come with low oil indicator lights or did I get the wrong info on my cart? This does not sound good I will check the second link out!

I've seen some with and without the light but that being said it's just an indicator light and won't cut spark like on some small engines

Low oil light was not on all the models, but the chart is for a wide range of Gas Yami's.

The important part is :
- check the ends of the lines to be sure they are well seated in the plug
- check your ground!
- Check the solenoid wiring

I did wind up replacing the solenoid on one of my carts to get it to run BUT I also had to chase a problem with the 'brown' wire in the diagram and the Fuse over on the left wheel well.

Long way of saying I had several electrical problems but persistence and much help from the forum and it was sorted out correctly.

FYI: if you are going to replace parts check Boats.com and buy the OEM yamaha parts. I decided to use the ebay.com off brand solution from china which was easier on the pocket book BUT I had to replace them with OEM parts. The china parts met the spec but didn't meet the 'fitment' side of the equation. (for example, fuel pump was not wide enough for both bolts to be used in the two holes)

My opinion, by I would start with the OEM parts until you get a feel for whats out there. And yes, there are other places to get the parts that are OEM, some of our site sponsors carry them. This was just an example of what you need to consider-- no offense site sponsors

Spicyunicorn thanks for the response. I kind of figured that just like everything else that there are some features on some models that are not on all of them. justwondering, I see we have had some of the same issues working on things in our lives lol. I have found that there are some things that you can cheap out on if you want but I don't believe that a continuous duty starter solenoid would be one of those things. I have found through reading on here that the people here are very helpful and informative with just a dash of sarcasm on occasion. I had it made up in my mind that if I had to build a new harness for this thing I would do it. Cant be no worse than stripping down a LS harness so that the engine would run as a stand alone setup. Well thanks again for your time and hopefully I can get this figured out. I believe I can with the help you have provided!!

As I recall the power goes to the key, then pedal, then splits to the coil/solenoid/ignitor. So all you have to do is test for 12v at the key, through the pedal, at the solenoid except it should start when that happens or at least turn over. Also check your battery cable connections and any other connections, its very common for them to have issues or corrosion by this age.

If you have 12v and no start, then maybe you have bad grounds because those are wired in these carts so you have to check those wires. Some have a positive and negative fuse also, some just positive.

Sounds like a bad peddle switch to me. Have you tried jumping across it (make sure the rear tires are in the air for safety and use jack stands)? Can you hear a click when you press the pedal? Also, just for reference, G9's are notorious for battery connection issues. I had to clean my battery connections almost daily. Had many other electrical issues as well at times. I finally made up a new wiring harness with a little bigger guage wire and it solved so many issues. Best thing I ever did for that G9.

Sho I am pretty sure your correct now that I have been given a new schematic to look at. The first one did not show the secondary side of the stop switch activating anything on the starting circuit but justwondering pointed me in the right direction to a schematic that had been changed to show the correct wiring. spriddle, I have not tried bypassing the switch yet. I started with the schematic to see what all had to be actuated in order to fire the starter solenoid. When I seen that on the original schematic I found that there was nothing activating the starting circuit I chose to inquire here rather than spending hours chasing my tail. Thanks again everybody for your help thus far. I have been working crazy hours and have not been able to get out into the garage to start narrowing this gremlin down as of yet.
