Default Yamaha G9

I have a 90 Yamaha G9 with a freshly rebuilt motor motor runs fine if I rev engine by hand on the carb however if I hook the throttle up sometimes it runs fine other times it will stutter and make a popping noise when trying to accelerate from a dead stop. I adjusted the valves .004 sprayed carb cleaner around the carb and got no response and bungee cord of the air box shut. Don't know what else it could be.

Try taping around the lid off the air box iv had to do that on warped ones to get them to completely seal

Take the small governor cable off and throw it as far as you can!!!! Now, take the cable coming from the gas pedal and hook it directly to the carb. Adjust it so the throttle completely opens when you press the gas all the way and completely closes when you let off the gas pedal.

Check airbox again, check for crack/leak at carb spacer they get old and brittle. All fails you can hog out the main jet a little that should do it.

Is the plastic isolator between the carb and engine cracked? It's really hard to tell without taking it off.

If you think it is your igniter.
I have a g9 igniter I just posted for sale in the classifieds.
I would ship it to you and if it fixes you problem I'd like 65 plus shipping.
If not just ship it back to me.
