Default Sputtering on initial acceleration everytime

Just picked up an 08 yamaha and I'm having problems with take off going forward. The cart sputters and does nothing if I press the pedal all the way. If I lightly press the pedal it'll start going, sputtering along the way, then I can press the pedal all the way. It does this every time I stop and go, doesn't matter if it's warmed up or not.

Reverse seems to works fine, slight sputter but may just be the normal cart behavior.

Was hoping you experts here might have some advice for me . Thank you

Whoops forgot to mention this is a gas cart

Great thing about carts is the enormous gas tank goes a long time between refills. The bad thing about carts is the enormous gas tank rarely gets refilled.

Got my first cart a couple months ago: a retired course cart decommissioned last year maybe? Still had half a tank, and would still run but not great. Seemed to stutter like you describe, and would ping a bit on acelleration. Today it was down to about 1/8 tank. Topped it off with 91 octane ethanol-free. Runs SO much better. Should have drained it the day I bought it, but it ran and I didn't realize how poorly until giving it the good stuff.

Know what usually happens when you mix 3/4 tank of new fuel with 1/4 tank of rotten fuel? You usually end up with a full tank of rotten fuel. I recommend that if you question the fuel, get rid of all of it.

I agree with you on that point. I'm going to siphon out the tank and put it in my car, then give the cart a complete fresh tank. Air cooled engines seem fussier than EFI cars so far as gas goes.
