take off the carb and clean it. the needle valve/seat is likely quite clogged. or the needle/float is stuck up

I had the same problem a few years back on my G2, I just replaced the carb, they are under $20 on ebay. The ethanol in todays gas can screw up a carb sitting over the winter months. I use none ethanol gas in my G2 now but I also have the VC625 big block now.

Different experiences, but usually not...

Nothing is better than to rebuild an OEM carb with OEM parts; changing the complete carb is often (not always but...) a form of laziness...

I would clean/rebuild the OEM carb and not even give a $20 carb a second thought, unless your OEM carb is beyond being able to be saved. And if that were the case i'd buy a used OEM from ebay and rebuild it. It's like saying the cheap chinese clone motors are just as good as the original Honda motor they're cloning. Will they work? sure. But build quality and long term reliability are 2 completely different worlds between them.

Is there a part number for a oem carb ? Or just search on eBay ?

At $250 I think i would just rebuild yours ;) Seldom are they not rebuildable, unless the needle seat is damaged... which is unlikely. But really there isn't a lot to this carb... No pilot jet, diaphragm, slides, etc to deal with. Just a float bowl, a main jet, and a few air passages. If it's TOTALLY gunked up a cheap ultrasonic cleaner from Amazon or Ebay and a gallon of carb cleaner will make it like new again.

Nitro I have a couple stock carb's sitting in my garage if you would like to take one and rebuild it. Just send me your address and I will send you one. I need to get some of this stuff out of the garage before it heads to scrap steel.
