Yamaha g29 not turning over
If I lightly press the pedal it tries to turnover, but if I press the pedal all the way I just hear a click.
If it's in neutral it starts up more times than not. But in gear I have to try numerous times with the right amount of pedal press or someone has to push me a little. This is the same regardless if the cart is warmed up. Once I'm driving it's fine until I stop. I have a video of the belts when I try to start it and you can see where the cranking seems to get stuck. I'll try to attach a link to the video on my Google drive. I tried connecting the battery charger, thought maybe I wasnt getting enough cranking amps. |

Re: Yamaha g29 not turning over
Just a guess, but watch the starter/generator pulley to see if it is spinning , but belt not turning. I'm thinking it's just a starter belt adjustment.

Re: Yamaha g29 not turning over
The belt does look loose, but when the clutch spins so does the belt. I haven't seen the belt slip one time. In neutral when the clutch is free spinning the cart starts right up... If I turn the clutch by hand lightly I can feel where the clutch begins to get harder to turn. This seems to be where the cart struggles to turn it over.

Re: Yamaha g29 not turning over
I tested the solenoid and the ohm readings appear fine... the battery is good... I'm leaning towards the starter brushes at this point.

Re: Yamaha g29 not turning over
Make sure your battery is good and has a full charge. I would load test it... if the battery is on its way out when the engine hits compression stroke (that's when the clutch gets hard to turn) and trying to turn the clutches it may be dropping voltage too low.. but with cart in neutral it's less load... might just be right on the edge there. Must be load tested though, just because it shows 12v at rest doesn't mean it maintained 12v when a load is applied. It shouldn't drop below 11v minimum when trying to start the engine. The S/G don't take a whole lot of juice to get going
Just a guess but simple fix if so. Hard to tell without seeing a video though |
