Default Problem Clone kit!

I received a Big Block Clone kit for my Yamaha G2. I had a problem with the pulse fitting on the carburetor spacer for my New Duromax 420cc 16hp engine. I called the company and discussed it with them. The solution was for me to remove the hose barb from their spacer and put it on mine. No problem for me because I am a retired Machinist. I noticed after I did the change over and when I was ready to install it that the hose barb was 4mm and the G2 barb was 6mm. The hose sizes were different. I called them and told them the problem. Their solution was to use a good hose clamp. I told them that I bought their kit to fit my Yamaha and the barb they sent was not the right size for the factory Yamaha pulse hose on the fuel pump. Their solution was for me to send it back and they would refund my money. I could tell that they did not want to work/talk with me and they knew after all the work I had done already that I would not send it back. I refuse to 'Mickey Mouse' something that could be a headache and a fuel problem. Just a warning for those who think of putting out over $750. for a clone kit IMG_0522.jpg

The only company that i know that does clone kits are pretty good at what they do. That being said with after market swaps there will always be "modifications required". Hell it seems its like that with everything these days. If this is the only problem id say its still a good kit.

I know that I had to make changes because I used a clone engine that they did not use. The two things that got to me were, first the hose barb was not the right size for a Yamaha in the first place from them! The hose size they sent was the right size from them for a Yamaha. Second thing was them telling me to pack it up and send it back. If they had said that they would send the right size hose barb for me to put in then it would have good customer service! For them to send me a part in a kit that does not fit a Yamaha was a simple mistake made bad by them not even trying to work with me.

How much are you out for a new barb? Is it that simple? If so then I'd say you got a 99.9% kit. Try putting a small block chevy in an old Jeep with a "complete adapter". Really, I think you are fussing about nothing. Somewhere in India a little girl is rooting through a garbage dump for something that appears edible.

I think I bought a big block motor from the same company. Yeah, there were a couple of hiccups, but they were more than helpful. Best way to communicate problems with them is by email. They never let me down.

Sounds like the OP didn't study any of the clone conversion threads here. Nothing but your own ingenuity makes for a perfect conversion.

Hundreds, maybe thousands of peoole have found those kits useful. If one hose barb is worth mentioning someone should have stuck with their stock cart and rebuilt the oem engine.

Nothing more to see here.

I've used a lot of "good hose clamps" to fix to big of hoses on wrong fittings inch fittings on ag applications not 2 mm differences

You have 6 posts total - did you ask for any help from the members? The reason they said to send it back is " there's only one size " and they don't want to hear such foolishness. They don't have a Yamaha specific vacuum adapter. They have a one size fits all clone engine vacuum port adapter. A hose clamp or a hose reducer would be the easiest way to fix it. The fuel pump on my G2 was original and the barbs were 5/16" or about 8mm. Please stop bashing Vegas Carts -----------

I guess none of you looked at the picture I posted. First find a clamp that will fit that 5/16 of an inch barb sticking up at an angle. Second remember that it is epoxied into a plastic spacer block about 3/8 of an inch. Third the hose is hanging on it while it is vibrating/running. Of course I could make stainless wire into a hose clamp, but nothing will keep it from probably weakening the epoxy and working its way out. I have already figured out the right way to fix it without the baling wire mentality. The issue is still why was it done wrong in the first place? And I paid for it to fit a stock Yamaha fuel pump system. I did not complain about not being able to use their complete air cleaner setup, because it was my fault using this clone engine. But the spacer supplied in the kit would not have worked right even with their clone. I guess it is my fault for thinking things should be done right when you pay for them. I guess it is because I am retired from a National Laboratory where bad designs are not accepted.

Why would I have to post more than 6 posts to be right. I have read hundreds of posts on this forum. The person I talked to did not tell me that they only had one size. He could have said that it would have worked with an adapter, but he did not. He gave me no solution other than pack it up and send it back. That is why I am upset. So if you noticed I never said Vegas Carts.
