Default Yamaha gas golf cart too quick

I just picked up a Yamaha g2(?) golf cart. It starts and runs fine. The problem is when you want to go it takes a lot of throttle before it moves and then it moves very quickly. There doesn't seem to be any low or take off speed. Its either on or off. Same in reverse. I'm new to these so any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like the belt is worn out.

Full disclosure, I don't your cart at all. I do know carbs, though, and many of those have different jetting for low / high speeds. It sounds like your low speed jetting went caput. It's a pretty common issue. You want to clean, rebuild, or replace your carb.

A ‘too fast’ rev limiter equipped G2?
Just kidding!

Try adjusting the cable at the pedal. That made a huge difference in mine. It would jump like a jackrabbit and there was no "slow". I do need to tweak mine a bit more, but it is much more tolerable now so not a big deal. Juat have too many projects at the moment

Clutch/Belt issue?

Carb issue?

Fuel issue?

Ignition issue?

With gas equipment you must check everything. With a golf cart, you have the two clutches and belt to deal with. When I'm having an issue I just check one thing at a time and verify condition and function.

We like pics and videos here, good quality. Snap a few of the clutches and belt and post up.

Could be the cable is not working and someone just set the throttle open, since it kills the engine when you let off people have done that. Or its not working right otherwise.
