Default Oil drain plug

Having trouble with the thread of the oil plug on the crankcase cover, I am asking myself if I would not install a valve (fumoto or EZ Oil Drain valve). I did not check yet what clearance we have but it should be ok.. Did someone installed one on his golf cart?

The first picture is the Fumoto standard serie, the second is the Fumoto SX serie (sideway, more designed for motorbike) and last one is EZ Oil Drain valve.

If the plug (90340-12097-00) is M12, what is the pitch? (1.25/1.5).

I looked into this too. I have fumoto valves on all of my cars and don't mind doing oil changes. However, on the yamaha, the manual even suggests using an oil extractor. I have a good quality fluid extractor I use for things like mid-cycle transmission fluid changes (without dropping the pan) and I plan to just go this route instead of using the drain plug. I did a change the oil with a few hours on the clock just to remove any casting/initial wear sediment and got out exactly 1Qt as expected... just use the dipstick tube instead of the filler tube.

The manual seems to suggest that the plug has a gasket... not sure if it's a crush-type that _should_ be replaced after one use, but the extraction method seems ok for me.

We installed an helicoil, but the first (M12) went bad, so we had to go to M14, which is the max we can. Luckily, it went well.

I then installed a fumoto SX-Serie (the second picture). Now changing the oil is done in a snap (which is not really an advantage in my case) but mainly I do not play anymotre with the thread!

Do you recall which Fumoto model/product number you used this this application?
