Default Solutions for Squeaky/Rickety Canopy(6-seater)??

Any bright applied ideas for making the canopy less shaky/squeaky/rickety? I know mine is definitely heavier but the whole the shakes and it bothers me.

Anyone use additional supports to the canopy struts or from the strut to the canopy itself? Cross-bar supports? Anything besides pool noodles and water heater pipe tubing insulation to lessen the noise and vibration?

Pictures and suggestions please😎

I put rubber washers on both sides of every mounting nut and bolt. It's not perfect but it helped.

Every little bit helps.

I’m picturing in my head something like patio swing springs. And put them on at 45 degrees from the canopy to the strut arm probably 1 on each side so 8 total. Kinda like mini shocks. Not really certain it will accomplish anything though.

Maybe a thick bead of RTV at each mounting point when you install the rubber washers. I would use fender washers between the rubber washers and nuts.

And what’s RTV for? Longevity of the rubber? And why fender bs regular washers?

Still looking for suggestions for actual motion reduction of the canopy too

You need to think of diagnally bracing the frame. Think of roll cages in racing cars, might help stiffen things up. When i built a race car lookalike for my son out of an EZGO TXT, I fitted two 1/4 inch thick flat bars below the roof support/basket frame, that extended out into the bagwell area and mounted some box section tube from the rear diagonally up to the top of the roof support. After that there was no movement in the roof support frame at all. I dont know how your carts frame is mounted but i am sure you could do something similar. Mine was welded up as a solid frame, and fixed to the cart using existing mounting points.

If you have a rear seat kit, you can brace from the rear hip restraints/grabrail diagonally up to the top of the roof supports. Basic engineering principle for strengthening in bridges, stage lighting rails, car frames etc.

Something like this.

RTV will add a cushion, squeak free layer between the plastic top and metal struts and the adhesive properties will stiffen the entire assembly. The larger surface area of fender washers will aide in stiffening it as well. YMMV

Here (Asia) we almost have only 4/6 seaters and canopies are Yamaha original with no trouble at all.

Can you take and post a picture of what you have?

Looks like you need a custom heavy duty roll cage to support all those accessories. No wonder it squeaks lol. Plus it will be safer when you tip it over going round a corner.
