Default 2005 G22 won’t move???

The other day I drove my cart about 100 yards and it would not move. I got it home, made sure it had a good battery. But still nothing. Cart has been smoking after rides in engine area and I did see this problem with a wire connected to the starter. I’m also thinking bad gas?

One other issue is when I press the pedal to go forward it hesitates or I have to press the pedal a couple times and it takes off.

That connection needs to be cleaned soak it a couple days with penetrating oil to help prevent it from braking off also check the starter brushes if they are below the holder it's time to replace them
