Default Rebuild g16 still smoking

Just rebuild motor on g16 and still smoking. Took about 20 minutes of run time before it started. I rebuilt it according to specs.

Replace valves but one looked like odd size.

Replaced all gaskets.

Replaced valve stem seals.

Any ideas?

I can't say for shure, but it may be when you ran it for 20 minutes the muffler got hot and was burning out all that oil that got in there from the old worn rings. I useually run it at a medium rpm for 10 minutes, let it cool off, another 10 and it useually burns it out. Hope that's the case for you.

I ran it for ten minutes. Oil was 3/4 full on stick from min to full. Changed oil . Ran a few minutes and same. So depressing

What did you do with the bore and rings?

I replaced runs. And hone cylinder. I'm going to try running longer. It smoked when I got it. So exhaust and breather could be full of oil. And maybe some on air filter. Hope it clears.

I rebuilt an engine that someone had run for a long time with it smoking and after the build it still smoked bad. I changed the muffler and it stopped. Smallblock has it right with just running it for awhile or if you have another muffler swap it out.

I think i found the issue, I ran it for 15 minutes and the oil level went up. I then pulled the carb and found lots of moisture on the inside between carb and cylinder.

I took it apart and seems the float in carb is not working well. I also have new air filters/spark plug and fuel filter coming today so I will change that as well..

I need to test the carb float.

The float seems to be okay as far as sealing. However when i took this measurement I was closer to .4 and the specs say .57 Thinking of order new carb so its clean and everything.

See attached image.
Thoughts?

I'm not trying to be rude, did you order an expensive OEM carb or an after market? In my experience you would have better off ordering a new OEM needle then the worthless knock off carb. Good luck on your fix
