Default 84 Yamaha G1 ( calling all pro’s )

Guys I’ve been stumped on this for a few weeks now . Fwiw , I be rebuilt ezgo , & atleast a few g1 carts as well . This particular cart is an 84 g1 , I’ve replaced cylinder , rings & piston . Replaced carb . Also, both fan & clutch side crank seals .with a snap on compression gauge I’ve got between 120-125 psi . I’ve got fuel to the carb and I’ve got really good spark , but this cart still will not run . Turns over but won’t run . For the life of me I still can’t figure out what could be wrong . I have put a capful of premix down the plug hole and it does immediately run / move until the fuel is spent . What do you guys suggest I or what I might I be missing that is preventing this cart from running ? Seriously stumped . Open to any suggestions , please . Tia .

Have you checked/replaced the reed valves? Also will it run off of premix or ether put in through the carb?

Reeds seem to be ok as far as I can tell and I cleaned out any oily deposits . I have not tried ether through the carb , but I did pour a capful at a time through plug opening and it runs that way every time . What are your thoughts ?

If there is some type of issue with the engine to where it won't make enough vacuum to pull the fuel through the carb, you test that by putting fuel in the carb instead of the plug hole. Is fuel dribbling out the fuel line at the carb during cranking? Is the float and needle valve free or is it stuck?

I pulled the line from the carb and it’s defiantly pushing plenty of gas to the carb . Now the original carb seemed to be working ok too but I thought maybe it was the causing the issue so I replaced it with a brand new one for 20$ & change but I’m still getting the exact same results . Fires but won’t run . Thanks so much for chiming him . Hope you can stick with on this .

I thought of that but wouldn't that cause no compression on the gauge?

A little history & lesson I learned the hard way .
Initially I thought it was a worn piston / rings . I borrowed a friends harbor freight compression gauge and got a reading of 60psi ,so, I went ahead and did a full top end rebuild and the results were the same . Cart wouldn’t run . I then did a follow up compression test with the same gauge and it read exactly the same . Did a google search to find reviews across the board that the hf compression gauge is faulty , notorious for reading low extra . I bought a snap on compression gauge and it’s reading 120-125 psi . Also , I did make sure the arrow on the piston when installed was facing towards the exhaust port . Ve

You will still have compression if it's in backwards easiest way to inspect it is pull the exhaust if you see the ports in the Piston from exhaust side it's backwards

Isn't it easier to remove the reed valves? Lol either way, I agree you have to visually check through one of the ports.
