Default Disassembled G2/G9 motor

Here are a few pictures of an engine that I took apart. I will be taking a lot of pictures putting it back together also. This enigine and another one to be built later will be given to a couple of veterans that live in Texas.

I always like to use OEM Yamaha parts. Looks like this engine never got its oil changed. Looks like the original spark plug from the factory.

Here are a couple of pictures from taking off the primary clutch. I have done it this way on more carts than I can count. I’ve never had an issue with getting a clutch off.

Both brackets are off. I will be cutting off the low oil shutt down wire also.

Take all the bolts out of the cover. I always clean around the shaft to allow the cover to slide off easy leaving the bearing sill in the cover. A few tapes with the rubber hammer and it slides off.

Here are where the marks should line up when you are putting it back together. It should make a v shape. Make sure all the holes where the counter weight and cam ride are not messed up.

To take the fly wheel off I run the nut off so that it’s flush and I give a few taps with the hammer and it pops off. I will put this engine back together with all OEM parts. The engine still has the standard piston so all I will do is hone and put it all back together cleaning up as I go.

Great pictorial! Thanks for taking the time to do this. Someone definitely left cheap conventional oil in that one for far too long. What’s your plan to clean the carbon off of all the parts? I have heard oven cleaner works well. Looking forward to seeing the progress!
