G2 losing power on long hills
Hello All.. i have a G2 with stock engine. With the governor zip tied I run in the low 20's and do have decent torque for climbing hills from stop. My issue is when running at speed I have several long slow hills that i drive on that cause the cart to just come to a crawl. I go from 20 down to a couple miles an hour... Which is worse with any passengers of course.
Is there anything that can be done for this? I assume the issue may be the rear clutch but before throwing money at it I was hoping you guys could give me some advice. Thanks! |

Re: G2 losing power on long hills
Is the rpm increasing as it slows down like it's changing down gears or does it gradually slow down as if stuck in a high gear (obviously it doesn't have gears but just trying to put into normal vehicle terms). If you stop on that hill & take off again does it is pull away ok?
If the rpm doesn't increase as it slows down with the gas peddle depressed then it will most likely be one of the two clutches. Mine is similar, everything looks like it is working as it should but it won't 'shift down' going up a long hill. I have tried an upgraded spring for the secondary clutch but that was too stiff & wouldn't lock up at all. I'm looking for a 'Umax' spring which I believe will be an upgrade over the standard one without being too stiff but I'm struggling for a supplier in Canada at a reasonable price. Re: G2 losing power on long hills
You hit the nail on the head, it isn't revving up it is as you describe. Just sitting in that high "gear". To be honest i haven't tried to stop and start again. I will try that this weekend. The guy i bought it from said he put a Plowman's spring in for better torque. But if it isn't "shifting" itself back into a lower range I would assume the spring wouldn't do anything for this issue.
The big question would be is this normal operation and you just have to deal with it or is something not functioning as it should. |

Re: G2 losing power on long hills
Does the belt move all the way up & down the clutches if you rev it up in neutral (in between fwd & reverse)?
Also could put a line of non permanent marker pen on both clutches to see if the belt runs all the way up the ramps when driving. Also check belt width is not worn down, 1 1/8" or more I think. Sent from my Moto Z2 Play using Tapatalk |

Re: G2 losing power on long hills
I believe the belt is moving as it should. The cart seems to run as it should except for this issue. I will take a look tomorrow.
Thanks Mozzer! |
