Default Piston on g1

Hey guys I finally got to pull the cylinder. I pulled the piston and cleaned the top and it had a 75 stamped on it. Does that necessarily mean that’s the oversized spec on it? Thanks again

I haven't seen any numbers on the top of a stock "never been bored" sized piston. And 75 is the biggest piston offered. Bummer

I don't know about jugs being available for the '82

I thought there were .25, .5, .75, 1.0mm oversized sizes?

I think your next step is to have a machine shop check the cylinder to see if it is serviceable.

Well machine shop I’ll go then. If I get this fixed I’m good to roll I’m just getting anxious.

Do you have a 1982? If not, you can get a cylinder and piston kit.

Sorry to hear that. I've heard of people trying to convert their engine with non-82 parts but don't know whether that was successful so the machine shop route is gone be the best for you to have to buy the least amount of stuff. Hopefully just a hone and new rings unless the piston is destroyed.

Yeah the shop I contacted said they don’t handle those things, so now I’m really in a spot.

I don't know if this will help, but my previous (old) thread here:
http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/gas-y...1-experts.html was about a '86+ G1. I know the unusual '82 models differ, but the page below from the repair manual gives the dimensions. If the '82 used the 215 cc cylinder and piston, you may be able to determine if the cylinder has already been bored/honed.

As far as getting a machine shop to check it out, I found a small machine shop (eager for work), and he was able to do the small job for a decent price. You might check with local small engine shops or motorcycle shops who work on this size engines.

HTH,
Ogre
