Adding Power Port on G1
My G1 has a home made ,add on canopy that is a pain to remove to open the engine compartment. I want to put a battery maintainer on it over the winter while it sets in the garage. I'm thinking about wiring up a power port to the battery and then changing the end on the battery maintainer to a plug for the power port. Is this a good idea or am I missing something? Thanks, Chris

I don't see why you can't do that.

Re: Adding Power Port on G1
That would work fine. If you install a female receptacle somewhere and wire it straight to the battery it would serve 2 purposes... trickle charge with a maintainer or battery tender. And also would work as a port to plug other things into (cell phone charger, etc) when you're not charging.
Battery tenders only charge ar 500mA ti 1A at most, so small wires would be perfectly fine. No need for short runs or big beefy terminals. |
