Unhappy 1990 G8A Blowing 10 amp fuse

I was in a hurry installing a new battery an reversed the battery connections in my G8 gas cart and it blew the 10 amp fuse when I went to start the unit, I corrected the issue and have replaced the fuse and it will hold until I try to start the cart.
Not sure what to check to find what I messed up.

Thanks

I would put my money on a smoked voltage regulator. Maybe ignitor but you can try to unplug the voltage regulator and start it. IF the fuse doesn't blow, you know what to replace. Voltage regulator won't stop it from running... It just won't charge the battery while it runs so I'd replace it sooner than later :)

possibly the ignitor, but that's a lot more expensive and harder to diagnose. I'd start with the voltage regulator.

Solenoid would not have been powered unless key was on and pedal pressed down. And even then, the 2 small terminals of the solenoid don't care which is power or which is ground. As long as one of them is opposite the other. The 2 big terminals merely are contacts that pass current, it also doesn't care if it passes power or ground.

I generally always recommend OEM parts, especially when it comes to electronics. However, finding OEM parts for a 30 year old golf carts can prove to be difficult, and very expensive. I used a $20 one on my G9 from Amazon and never had any problems with it. Other people have had them bad right out of the box, so maybe I got lucky...

Either way I'd unplug it first and make sure that's what's causing your fuse to blow before ordering anything.

To good to be true, received and installed new voltage regulator today and the fuse blew again, would the new regulator be bad or something else down the circuit?

CP241 do you think it would be the ignitor or should I try another voltage regulator?
Is there a way to ohm out a voltage regulator or just try another?
I hear the fuse pop as soon as I press the gas pedal with either voltage regulator plugged in.
