Cause was failure to investigate what happened to the previous belt? Only 2 options (well, option 3 is "obsene amounts of HP"), poor quality belts, or clutch function/alignment/heat problem. Heat is by far the number one cause of "dramatic" belt failure, but, what caused the heat. Was it a jammed up clutch? Completely incorrect belt? Is it modified with non stock parts, causing belt misalignment? Cheap belts are garbage, and OEM Yamaha belts are as cheap as you should go. There are several really high quality belts available for not-much-more than stock Yamaha belts, but there are no belts cheaper than OEM yamaha that are worth buying.

So went out for a ride and it doesn’t seem to be shifting into high gear or something just not going full speed , like something is holding it back , put on bigger tires over the winter could that be a problem ?

When I tried one of those after market belts I had similar results. Before installing an OEM belt I had to use steel wool and mineral spirits to clean off the rubber that was deposited on the shives. This allowed the belt to move freely up and down.

My E-Bay belt looked like spaghetti just shriveled to little strings . Hoping it’s not something worse . Wouldn’t think putting on a little bigger tires would affect it so much .

I don't believe the tires are the problem, you have to use a quality belt. The OEM belts work great but the belt that has worked best for me is made by Gates. I have replaced my original clutches for the newer style JW8 which caused me to go to the J55 belt. The Gates belt is Kevlar reinforced and has held up well. (24G3884) 1-1/4" X 39-3/4" I found it on Amazon.
