2007 Yamaha Drive project
Been part of this thread for a little bit now. have been reading up on posts and other stuff..
My cart is a 2007 yamaha drive gas so here is my situation. i am planning on lifting my cart. want to do the Long Travel. thinking jakes cause of price. rims and tires, but i need to find a tire that is still able to be used on the golf course. rear seat thinking of the madjax 300 aluminum just because of the option for the clip on thing for the bags. a 84 inch top. Painting it this winter.. i have talked to don at plowmans and plan on getting the upgrade kit.. i am having to hold off here on purchasing some stuff for a little bit as i have just purchased the cart, windshield, head and tail lights, radio. usb ports cigarette lighter and volt meter Wondering what sponsor everyone is going, if there is one better cause of make model etc. looking for someone that can get me a deal even if i cant purchase everything at once. i would like to buy from a sponsor of this site cause of the help that i have received, and the help that i have seen others get. Thanks for the help and cant wait till next year when i have this cart all done and finished. |

Re: 2007 Yamaha Drive project
Put fresh axle oil in the rear end now, before you do anything else. The service manual calls for a 4-year service interval, but 2 year is more appropriate. Use Yamaha "fricton modified shaft drive oil", or an equivalent with friction modifier. Most "used, for sale" carts have never even had it done. The golf course never did it, since 4 years is the typical lease, the "golf cart rebuilders" don't care, or know how important it is for that axle.

Can’t you use mobile 1 vs the Yamaha stuff?

Re: 2007 Yamaha Drive project
Sure, as long as you add friction modifier, at least 1.5 oz. Even if it says "compatible with limited slip", I would still add friction modifier. In the quantity we are adding, we can't really have too much, but you sure can have too little.
